ICRC’s response to Syrians' needs in Jordan in 2016

14 May 2017

The majority of Syrians who sought refuge in Jordan came with little or no belongings. Due to the protracted nature of the Syrian conflict, their financial assets were quickly depleted.

Some 80% of Syrians in Jordan are residing in host communities and depend on humanitarian organisations in order to meet their basic needs. With the dual aim of helping Syrians hosted in Jordan and easing the burden on local communities, the ICRC together with the Jordan Red Crescent Society (JRCS) provided food, cash assistance, and essential basic items to 100,000 vulnerable Syrians and Jordanians in 2016.
