Generating respect for the law
The 2016 Conference Cycle on Generating Respect for the Law was a series of high-level public events and expert meetings organized by the ICRC in Geneva and other key locations. It grew out of the recognition that the basic tenets of international humanitarian law (IHL) are being disregarded, as is made clear by a number of ongoing conflicts. The Cycle also sought to demonstrate that IHL is still relevant in today's armed conflicts.
