Liferay DEVCON 2021: ICRC appeal

Conflicts haven't stopped because of COVID-19. Neither has the suffering caused by them. For people in places where violence or conflict are part of everyday life, the virus is yet another threat to their lives.

Let's come together and support those at risk. The International Committee of the Red Cross is fighting the spread of the disease by supporting health care centres, providing clean water and supporting livelihoods. But as the disease spreads, people's immediate and longer-term needs will continue to grow.

We're all facing this pandemic together. Help us support the ICRC by donating today.

The ICRC is working to bolster fragile health-care systems, provide reliable access to clean water and ensure that people have food and essential household items at a time when securing a livelihood and getting access to essential services may be even more difficult.

The rising death toll from the new coronavirus means Brazil is one of the countries most affected by the pandemic, with tens of thousands of victims. The high number of deaths can overwhelm local capacity to care for people and so in Brazil, the ICRC is helping institutions properly manage the dead, ensuring dignity, protection and respect for pandemic victims and their families. This is critical work that helps to alleviate the suffering and anguish of family members in these situations.

In India, where the ICRC works very closely with the Indian Red Cross Society, they are supporting people facing the dual challenge of floods and COVID-19 by supplying items such as tarpaulins, saris, dhotis, blankets, kitchen-sets, surgical masks and PPE kits.

The ICRC's teams rely on your support to continue their work to help those in need. We're all facing this pandemic together: support the ICRC by donating today.
