Regional HR Responsible (Port Moresby)

As part of our People Management Strategy and progressive transformation of the HR function in the various delegations of the ICRC worldwide, the ICRC Regional Delegation in Suva wish to appoint a talented, experienced and motivated Regional HR Responsible. The purpose of this position is to deliver HR services in order to enable our line managers and employees to adequately respond to operational challenges, and who can develop strategic HR approaches in terms of sourcing and partnership within the countries of the region and support the efforts of the Pacific region in terms of HR Challenges.

The successful candidate for this post will have a proven record in a similar position. The aim is to enhance the ICRC's positioning, acceptance and ability to operate within the region. The position is Based in Port Moresby, with frequent trips in the Pacific region.

He/she will be the HR manager responsible for:

HR Strategy

  • Understand the Regional and the Delegation HR strategy and oversee its implementation within the DelegationReport to the Regional Administrator and Regional HR Manager

HR Execution

  • Be accountable for the delivery of HR services in the Regional Delegation
  • Validate and ensure HR processes and policies are delivered consistently and accordingly to guidelines from Centres of Expertise
  • Provide support to the Regional HR Partner at the HQ in the execution of all initiatives within the Delegation

Support to Line Managers

  • Support and coach line managers in the execution of core people management tasks

Supervision of HR personnel

  • Supervise Administrators in the execution of daily HR activities and provide necessary coaching and advice

HR Projects

  • Implement ad-hoc HR projects and initiatives from HR and People Management Program

Research and Analysis

  • Identify trends on an ongoing basis, providing the delegation management with the requisite information to inform proactive business decisions with regard to human resources issues

Selection requirements and experience

  • University degree / certification or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in an HR Manager function
  • Fluent in written and spoken English; Pidgin language an asset
  • International experience, preferably in humanitarian sector, would be an asset
  • Fully conversant with IT tools
  • Driving licence

  • Excellent and effective communication and listening skills and ability to interact collaboratively in a multicultural team
  • Strong analytical, decision making and organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities in an autonomous manner
  • Cultural awareness and commitment to encourage diversity and inclusion in the workplace
  • Available for frequent professional travel
