In November 2011, Kyrgyzstan joined in passing a resolution at the International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent aimed at boosting respect and protection for health services through the worldwide "Health Care in Danger" campaign.
- Roza Otunbayeva, former president of Kyrgyzstan and creator of the foundation that bears her name;
- Dr Sabyrbek Jumabekov, former minister of health, who now heads a centre for traumatology and orthopaedics research;
- Orzubek Nazarov, former world lightweight boxing champion.
