Philippines: Typhoon victims need food, water and health care

19-11-2013 Interview

In Guiuan, one of the places hardest hit by Typhoon Haiyan, ICRC staff have been working around the clock assessing the most pressing needs of the affected population. On 17 November, the ICRC and the Philippine Red Cross started distributing food to 42,000 people. Three mobile water treatment units have been set up in Samar to give people access to drinking water, and medical materials have been provided to health facilities. Vincent Cassard, typhoon response coordinator, describes the situation and what the ICRC is doing to help.
