Pakistan: International conference on protection of war victims

The International Islamic University of Islamabad, with the support of the ICRC, will be holding an international conference on the protection of war victims from 30 September to 2 October at the Islamabad Convention Centre.
During the three-day conference, entitled Protection of War Victims in the Light of Islamic Law and International Humanitarian Law, Islamic scholars from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen will have an opportunity to examine the commonalities and differences between the two streams of law, focusing on the plight of war victims, and to raise academic and public awareness of the legal protection to which they are entitled.
The proceedings of the conference will be documented and made available to the scientific community for further research on humanitarian law.
