ICRC: Two new members of the Committee

Geneva (ICRC) – At its meeting on 9 December 2004, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) co-opted two new members, Christine Beerli and Paola Ghillani.
This brings the membership of the Committee to 18.
Christine Beerli, of Bienne in the canton of Bern and Thal in the canton of Saint Gall, holds a law degree from the University of Bern. A member of the upper house of Parliament from 1991 to 2003, she chaired the commissions on foreign affairs, social security and health. Ms Beerli currently heads the technical and computer science department of the Berner Fachhochschule .
Paola Ghillani , of Bulle in the canton of Fribourg, holds a degree in pharmacy from the University of Lausanne and a certificate from the International Institute for Management Development in Lausanne. Currently director general of the Max Havelaar Foundation (Switzerland), Ms Ghillani has held executive positions in marketing and management.
