New ICRC vice-president

At its meeting of 8 December, the Assembly of the International Committee of the Red Crosselected Mr Olivier Vodoz to the post of ICRC vice-president.
He succeeds Ms Anne Petitpierre, who has been named an honorary member of the International Committee in gratitude for her many years of service.
Mr Vodoz has a law degree from the University of Geneva and was a member of the Geneva bar before being elected to the State Council of the Republic and Canton of Geneva in November 1989. He became the Council's president in 1995.
He has been a member of the ICRC since 1998.
