Colombia: soldier freed under ICRC auspices

Bogotá (ICRC) – This afternoon, in a rural area of Meta, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) freed Private Josué Daniel Calvo and handed him over to delegates from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Colombian senator Piedad Córdoba and a representative from the Church, Monsignor Leonardo Gómez Serna.
The ICRC is grateful to the government of Brazil, the government of Colombia and the country's police and armed forces, Colombians for Peace and the FARC for their cooperation in carrying out this humanitarian operation.
The FARC have announced that Corporal Pablo Emilio Moncayo will be released on 30 March.
In its capacity as a neutral, impartial and independent humanitarian organization, the ICRC will continue to seek every possible means of securing the rapid release of additional hostages and other detained persons.
