Private Partnerships and Philanthropy (Major Donors) Specialist in Brazil

The ICRC Regional Delegation for Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay, based in São Paulo, is looking for a qualified candidate to work in the post of:
Private Partnerships and Philanthropy (Major Donors) Specialist

The Regional Delegation in Brasilia works to respond to the needs of people affected by armed violence, promotes International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and Human Rights applicable to the police service. Our institution works with six operational priorities in the region covered by the Regional Delegation: the humanitarian impacts of armed violence in general and on essential public services in particular, missing persons and their families, migration, detention, cooperation with the Movement, and the promotion of international humanitarian law and human rights, where applicable.

Purpose of daily activities:
The Private Partnerships and Philanthropy Specialist will play a key role in continuing to build a sustainable major gifts program to support the ICRC's mission around the world. This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to identify, cultivate, request and steward major donors, whether individuals, corporations or foundations.

The Private Partnerships and Philanthropy Specialist will work in collaboration with the Private Partnerships and Philanthropy Manager to ensure that fundraising with major donors is aligned with the ICRC's fundraising strategy in Brazil and that individual and overall objectives are met.

Description of the position:

  • Develop and implement strategies for identifying, cultivating, requesting and stewarding major gift donors;
  • Cultivate relationships and move donors through all stages of the donor cycle, with a particular focus on creating new relationship;
  • Conduct prospect research and analysis, and generate proposals, fundraising materials, reports and other related communications;
  • Manage communications with major donors during times of emergencies, to share information and gain support in a timely manner;
  • Ensure appropriate donor recognition, acknowledgement and stewardship;
  • Organize and lead occasional cultivation and stewardship events, when appropriate;
  • Keep accurate records of donors and prospect using and entering information into CRM;
  • Create individual donor plans and associated strategies, tracking these in the database;
  • Work closely with the rest of the team to identify prospects through activities such as database scanning and prospect identification;
  • Provide timely and relevant information for the Private Partnerships & Philanthropy Manager regarding Major Gifts activity;
  • Contribute to the effectiveness of Major Gifts activity including regular monthly and quarterly reporting of key activity and financial indicators;
  • Strategically involve and support relevant staff and head of offices in the cultivation and stewardship of major donors;
  • Contribute to the planning process;
  • Maintain current knowledge of giving trends and bring these learnings to the team through innovation.

Knowledge and experience requirements:

  • College degree;
  • Major Gift fundraising experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Solid track record securing Major Gifts;
  • Capacity to build strong relationships with prospective and current donors across Brazil;
  • Experience and commitment to excellence in customer service in supporting partners and donors;
  • Advanced level of oral and written English;
  • Advanced level of oral and written Portuguese;
  • Excellent presentation skills;
  • Computer skills, including basic data management;
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM (Microsoft or Trackmob Guará) is desirable;
  • Hold a work visa in Brazil or be a citizen of the MercoSul countries and associated countries.
