PURPOSE

The ICRC's regional delegation for East Asia covers the People's Republic of China, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), the Republic of Korea (ROK) and Mongolia. Our work in China focuses on securing support for the ICRC's mandate and leveraging the country's global influence to promote the protection of women, children, and other vulnerable individuals affected by conflict, by fostering greater respect for international humanitarian law. Under direct supervision of Communication Officer, the intern will provide daily support in the Communication Department.

SCOPE

  • Translate English web documents into Chinese
  • Support to generate content for ICRC website and social media platforms
  • Support events management and related tasks
  • Assist with other day-to-day communication-related tasks

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree or above, preferred majors include journalism, communications or international relations, translation.
  • Excellent command of both English and Chinese, with strong translation skills.
  • Candidates with video shooting skills and proficiency in CapCut or Adobe Creative Suite are preferred.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated and organized.
  • Have experience in event execution and support.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.

WORKING HOURS

  • The internship requires a commitment of a minimum of 3 months to a maximum of 6 months.
  • It is required to work 5 working days per week at the ICRC office.

GENERAL DUTIES

  • Understand and adhere to the seven Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
  • Understand and adhere to the ICRC Code of Conduct
  • Understand the roles of the components of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
  • Respect and observe staff regulations and security rules at all times
  • Represent the ICRC in a professional manner at all times
  • Develop and maintain a pleasant and conducive working environment with colleagues and line managers
  • Perform all duties with the highest level of confidentiality in the interest of the employees and the ICRC
  • May be asked to perform tasks not covered in this job description and to provide support to other departments when necessary.
