Major humanitarian challenges in Afghanistan
Families struggle to meet their basic needs such as affordable food, employment, appropriate shelter and access to health care. To help reduce these challenges, the ICRC – which has been delivering humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan since 1987 - supports health care infrastructure, assists people to establish livelihoods and incomes, reunites families, improves access to clean water, sanitation, and energy, together with the Afghan Red Crescent and other Movement partners.
