- How the ICRC is responding in Yemen?
The ICRC has worked in Yemen since 1962 and runs one of its largest operations anywhere, together with the Yemen Red Crescent Society. In 2025, the support from our donors has helped people affected by the conflicts in Yemen meet some of their most urgent needs and rebuild a measure of stability in their lives.
- Nearly 1.5 million people gained more reliable access to clean water and essential services, including through solar-powered water and electricity systems.
- People were able to access vital healthcare when violence intensified or disease outbreaks struck, while people with disabilities received rehabilitation and specialist support.
- Families were helped to protect their livelihoods and produce more food, through livestock care, seeds, agricultural supplies and practical training.
- Detainees were supported with safer living conditions and access to healthcare, including through improved water, electricity and medical facilities in places of detention.
- More than 200 people received support after their release from detention, including medical care, financial assistance and help to reunite with their families.
