Ethiopia: 2024 Facts & Figures

January to December 2024

The ICRC has been conducting its humanitarian operations in Ethiopia for nearly half a century. Currently, its activities focus on responding to the needs of people affected by conflict and other situations of violence primarily in Amhara, Oromia and Tigray.

In 2024, assisting health facilities that treated individuals affected by the conflict, including those with gunshot wounds, was a top priority. The ICRC in Ethiopia also focused on reconnecting and reuniting families separated by the conflict, as well as providing support for survivors of sexual violence and physical rehabilitation services.

Additionally, efforts were made to improve access to clean water by repairing water infrastructure damaged due to the conflict. Rebuilding lives and livelihoods during emergency responses and addressing the dangers posed by unexploded ordnance were also key aspects of our humanitarian efforts throughout the year.
