The ICRC's Dakar delegation helps victims of violence in Casamance and Guinea-Bissau, and visits those detainees who fall under the ICRC's mandate. It supports the National Societies, promotes IHL among the armed forces and other weapon bearers and encourages implementation of IHL.

  • 2,460
    people who returned to their home villages in Casamance were supplied with the roofing materials they needed to rebuild 262 houses.
  • 750
    detainees received ICRC visits in five detention facilities in Casamance (in Ziguinchor, Bignona, Kolda, Sédhiou and Oussouye).
  • 1,600
    people had access to a better water supply after we built or repaired 15 village wells.
  • 33,000
    cattle, sheep and goats, belonging to 3,600 families, were treated for several major livestock diseases by 6 veterinary assistants supported by the ICRC.
  • 200
    families (i.e. 1,880 people) who returned to their home villages received 13,000 kg of corn, groundnut, cowpea and rice seed to grow decent crops and boost farming production.
