Brazil is the headquarters of the ICRC’s regional delegation for Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay. Our work in Brazil focuses on responding to and promoting responses from political leaders to the humanitarian needs of people affected by armed violence. The ICRC fosters IHL and raises awareness of the suffering which family members of missing persons go through, among political leaders and the public. We also provide support and training in the identification of the remains of missing persons. The ICRC has an office in São Paulo, and seeks the support of Brazilians, whether for donations or joining the ICRC, and cooperates with the Brazilian Red Cross (CVB).
