On 15–16 September 2025, a Movement Orientation Workshop was held at the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) headquarters for 32 staff from the Medical and Physical Rehabilitation Department. Co-developed by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and IRCS, the workshop aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement—its history, Fundamental Principles, structure, and operational framework. By fostering a shared understanding of institutional mandates, coordination tools, and international platforms, the workshop sought to equip IRCS Physical Rehabilitation teams with the knowledge to make informed decisions aligned with the Movement’s mission and humanitarian objectives.

The workshop covered foundational topics, including the Movement’s history, the Fundamental Principles, introduction to IHL, the distinct roles of the ICRC, IFRC, and National Societies, and the Movement’s contributions to humanitarian response in conflict and crisis settings. It also included case discussions tailored to IRCS priorities, with practical exercises to apply the Movement’s coordination approach.

Participants engaged in lively discussions, exchanged insights, and reflected on how the values of humanity, neutrality, and impartiality inform their daily work. The session received positive feedback, with many expressing a renewed sense of purpose and a deeper connection to the Movement’s humanitarian spirit. This orientation represents the beginning of a broader effort to embed RCRC principles across all units of IRCS. Future sessions and joint initiatives are planned to ensure continued learning and stronger alignment with the movement as a whole.
