President of Republic of Nauru visits ICRC

Geneva (ICRC) – The president of the Republic of Nauru, Mr Ludwig Scotty, paid a visit today to the Geneva headquarters of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) where he met with the organization’s vice-president, Mr Jacques Forster, its delegate-general for Asia and the Pacific, Mr Reto Meister, and other ICRC staff.

Mr Scotty was accompanied by his foreign minister, Mr David Adeang, and other Nauruan officials.

The ICRC vice-president welcomed the fact that the Republic of Nauru had this very day acceded to the Geneva Conventions of 1949 and their two Additional Protocols of 1977 and signed Additional Protocol III of 2005. He also presented the ICRC’s humanitarian activities around the world, focusing on its operations in Asia and the Pacific.
