120th Anniversary of heroic ICRC delegate remembered

The ICRC Regional Delegation in Budapest participated in the March of the Living, an annual commemoration and walk, marking the Day of the Hungarian Victims of the Holocaust on Sunday 16 April.

The march also served as an opportunity to commemorate the 120th Anniversary of the birth of Friedrich Born who served as ICRC’s Chief Delegate to Hungary in 1944 saving thousands of lives during the Holocaust. 

We decided to join the march this year to commemorate the events of the Holocaust and join in the worldwide network to remember the people who took action and took risks to try to save Jewish people’s lives.

The ICRC team’s participation in this year’s March of the Living in Budapest also coincided with the 160th Anniversary of the creation of the organization.
