Colombia: Doctors and nurses are trained to treat war wounds

12 May 2014

A group of health workers in Putumayo – epicentre of the armed conflict in the south of Colombia – are trained by the ICRC to improve patient care for people with conflict-related injuries and conditions. In 2013, ICRC health-care experts trained some 2,100 people, including members of the communities worst affected by the violence.

In 2013, the ICRC helped victims of conflict and other violence in more than 30 Colombian towns and cities. It provided water supplies, helped them trace missing loved ones and created training and employment opportunities.
