Pretoria: Over 5,000 migrants contacted their families in 2015

In 2015, the ICRC Pretoria Regional Delegation assisted National Red Cross Societies to provide vulnerable migrants with a phone service enabling them to establish and maintain contact with their families.

ICRC teams also visited detainees to monitor their living conditions and treatment. Armed forces, students and government officials were sensitized on International Humanitarian Law.

Highlights of our work in Pretoria

4,400 migrants held at a holding facility for irregular migrants were visited
 5,839 vulnerable migrants used the phone service to contact relatives
 94 ICRC Travel Documents issued to migrants
