Mozambique: Improving the livelihood of people who were displaced

Falensa, who hails from Kunkwe in the district of Maringue, is one of the thousands to receive assistance. She opened her package with a short song, expressing her joy.

While much more is needed, these household goods will go a long way in restoring the independence of the families that have returned home to little or nothing.

The International Committee of the Red Cross is working with the Mozambican Red Cross to distribute essential household items to 40,000 people in the district of Maringue in central Mozambique.

These are the faces behind the numbers, the fathers, mothers and children who fled their homes during armed violence.
