Sudan: Clarification from the ICRC regarding news article in Al Intibaha on 26 October 2015

26 October 2015

On 26 October the Sudanese newspaper Al Intibaha published an article mentioning that a Red Cross plane landed in Kauda, South Kordofan, Sudan to deliver assistance. The ICRC would like to clarify that this is not the case.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) confirms that no ICRC plane has landed in Kauda, or any other location in South Kordofan, in recent years. The ICRC presently does not have access to South Kordofan State in Sudan and has no activities or presence in that area. The ICRC, as a neutral organization, operates to fulfill its humanitarian mandate to assist people in conflict affected areas only with the approval and official authorization from all parties concerned, in full transparency.
