The ICRC is striving to mainstream sustainability as part of an appropriate and effective approach to its work to assist the victims of conflict and other situations of violence.

By adhering to the principles of sustainability, the ICRC:

  • reduces the potentially negative impact of its activities on the environment;
  • makes optimal use of its financial resources;
  • is a socially responsible partner in its interaction with stakeholders.

This report will give an overview of the social and economic dimensions of sustainable development, and look more closely at progress made in the environmental field in 2015–2016:
