About the event

The 15th Annual All Africa Moot Competition in International Humanitarian Law took place in Arusha, Tanzania from 14-22 November 2015. Ten teams from eight countries from across Anglophone African countries took part in the competition. Participants attended daily International Humanitarian Law (IHL) lectures followed by simulations that test their knowledge on IHL. The competition concluded on Saturday, 22 November when finalists had the opportunity to debate before judges from the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, the Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals, the African Court of Human and Peoples Rights, the East African Court of Justice and the High Court of Tanzania, as well as ICRC staff.

The Moot Court competition is a life changing experience

When the competition began, this quote by Epictetus was stated: "It is not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters." We would like to reinforce it by sharing stories of professionals whose careers started from the ICRC All Africa Moot Court competition. Be inspired and enjoy.
