Bangladesh: Disabled cricketers to attend talent hunt camp

The ICRC physical rehabilitation project in Bangladesh is creating a national cricket team consisting of people with disabilities. The team would represent Bangladesh during a five-nation tournament in September 2015, endorsed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board. Following the first-ever seminar and training workshop for disabled cricketers, held in November 2014, the Talent Hunt Camp will make it possible to select the best disabled cricket players.

The team would represent Bangladesh during a five-nation tournament in September 2015, endorsed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board. Following the first-ever seminar and training workshop for disabled cricketers, held in November 2014, the Talent Hunt Camp will make it possible to select the best disabled cricket players.

 

 Who can play?

Physically disabled persons who can play cricket and like to be a proud member of National Physical Disable Cricket Team. Also, wheelchair using cricketers can be part of domestic or regional cricket team and for now will not be able to take part in the international tournament. Criteria to be selected as a Physical Disabled Cricketers when his "physical ability" to play cricket is disrupted / hampered by his disability.

Who can participate at Talent Hunt Camp?

  • Physical disabled and mentally fit
  • 16 to 34 years of age
  • People who are aware about the basic rules and regulation of cricket,
  • People with clear / visible physical disabilities are encouraged to apply (upper or lower limb amputation, club feet, weakness upper or limb, mild to moderate cerebral palsy, nerve injury, post fracture complication and many more)

 

Who will be selected?

To identify and to select the physical disabled cricketers from almost every Districts of Bangladesh. The final selection will be held on Wednesday 04 March 2015 and the list of players will be designated to participate the three-month Training Camp. Please note, players will be excluded from the camp with intellectual disability, visual and hearing impairments, minor amputation, fracture, wheelchair user, balance and coordination problems and high risk of re-injury.

  • A Medical Team will evaluate the physical impairment/disability of each player.
  • Meals will be provided for all participants at the BKSP throughout the ongoing Talent Hunt Camp.
  • Accommodation and transport cost reimbursement for the selected players will be provided at the BKSP.

Who are the organizers?

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), together with Ministry of Youth & Sports (MoYS), Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan( BKSP) and National Sports Council, Bangladesh (NSC) will organize the Physical Disabled Cricket - Talent Hunt Camp.
