About the event

This is the third of a series of Humanitarium events to explore localization in contemporary humanitarian action - a major policy discussion in the sector today following the Grand Bargain.

The event marks the launch of The Case for Complementarity, a new British Red Cross report that brings together lessons learned on how national and international components of the Movement work together in armed conflict and other situations of violence. The report draws on the Movement's experience in Somalia, Colombia and Ukraine and shows the unique and complementary contributions of national and international components of the Movement in meeting the needs of affected population.

Representatives from these National Societies will share their experience after a brief overview of the report. An open discussion will then be followed by refreshments. The public launch coincides with the annual ICRC - National Societies Senior Leadership Dialogue with the participation of 34 National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and is a good opportunity to meet a cross-section of the Movement's leadership from around the world.
