World Humanitarian Day 2015
Every year on 19 August, the international community marks World Humanitarian Day in recognition of aid workers who have lost their lives in the course of their duty.
It is also a day to celebrate humanity and the spirit that drives people to help others who are in need, even in the most difficult and dangerous situations, often putting their own lives at risk.
This year, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is recognising its humanitarian workers, by sharing stories of what inspires them to deliver life-saving humanitarian action.

This World Humanitarian Day, we honour the contribution of humanitarian workers towards creating a more humane world, and call on people globally to demand that humanitarian workers are given safe and secure access to deliver life-saving assistance to vulnerable people - without exception.
