Our work in Jordan

In Jordan, the ICRC visits detainees and helps them restore contact with their families, helps civilians restore contact with their families, promotes international humanitarian law, and supports the Jordan National Red Crescent Society. The ICRC’s delegation in Jordan is also a key logistical, training and fleet hub for the ICRC’s operations in the Middle East and beyond.

The impact of our work in Half of 2024

16,900

people in Sabha area in North Badia have gained access to a more reliable water supply due to the rehabilitation of Sabha Al Balad Pumping Station completed in early January 2024.

1,434

calls were facilitated in cooperation with the Jordan Red Crescent Society (JRCS) for refugees residing in both Azraq and Zaatari refugee camps.

Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) sessions took place in Amman, Mafraq, Irbid, and Zarqa for 108 families of missing persons.

order lines of medical/prosthetics supplies, essential relief goods and food, with net a value of 11.2 MLN CHF were shipped from Jordan to 13 destinations mainly Gaza, Yemen, Syria, Iraq and Lebanon.

Our work with the Jordan Red Crescent

In the regional delegation, cooperation work is based above all on providing support to the National Society to develop its capacities. Cooperation is an active part of the humanitarian response before, during and after emergencies or conflicts. Among our most important activities are responding to migration in the region, training first aid teams that work in dangerous areas and delicate situations and strengthening accountability, transparency and financial sustainability mechanisms.
