The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Regional Delegation for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries has an opening for a position of Cashier, to be based in Kuwait. 

Cashier 1 is accountable for the physical processing of cash transactions and the integrity of physical cash balances in a delegation, strictly respecting and applying the ICRC's rules on financial management.

The ICRC is a neutral, independent and impartial humanitarian organization that seeks to protect and assist people affected by armed conflict and other situations of violence. It is present in more than 80 countries. The ICRC’s regional delegation in Kuwait covers the GCC countries where it promotes international humanitarian law, raises awareness of humanitarian issues, and handles matters arising from armed conflicts in the region.

Standard function description:

  • Handles general cash disbursements in various currencies.
  • Explains cash procedures to the "clients".
  • Responsible for monthly scanning and filing of accounting documents.
  • Handles routine and basic cashier work mainly independently.
  • Ensures respect of financial procedures and guidelines.

Responsibilities include:

  • Handling the delegation's cash disbursements and payments, including salaries and working advances. Checking the completeness of all documentation (invoices, supporting documents, adding the sticker/STM approvals), stamp & breakdown sheets and processing payment.
  • Daily cash closure and reconciliation. Daily cash count and preparation of daily cash reconciliation report. Analysis & investigation of any discrepancies.
  • Filing of documents. Printing of batch covers, checking completeness and filing. Document scanning and filing.
  • Cash replenishment from the bank. Monitoring cash in the safes, preparing cheques for cash withdrawal as needed and organizing bank trips.
  • Preparation of cheques, transfer letters and other bank correspondence. Checking invoices and their supporting documents & preparing the cheques or payment orders.
  • Closure, settlement and register update of working advances. Checking completeness of invoices and supporting docs, adding stickers, preparing closure breakdown, securing approvals.
  • Supports HR in filing.

Required skills and experience:

  • University/diploma graduate in a related field or 1-year experience in a similar function.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Very good command of English, written and spoken – Arabic is a strong plus.
  • Highly organized with attention to details.
  • Holds a valid and transferable Kuwaiti residency.
