An international colloquium on the theme of "Emir Abdelkader and international humanitarian law" to mark the 150th anniversary of the ICRC, the 130th anniversary of the death of Emir Abdelkader and the 50th anniversary of Algerian independence and recognition of the Algerian Red Crescent.

Lectures and debates will be held from 28 to 30 May, with the aim of increasing historical knowledge regarding the humanitarian ideas of Emir Abdelkader and the codification of IHL, and of raising awareness of challenges and opportunities related to protecting the victims of armed conflict.
