International Committee of the Red Cross spokesperson Carla Haddad Mardini made the following statement on 2 March 2012:
0:00 The International Committee of the Red Cross and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent teams have not been allowed to enter the neighbourhood of Baba Amr in Homs. Our teams have been on the spot, waiting to enter, to deliver urgent emergency medical supplies and aid and to evacuate the wounded. However, they haven't entered the neighbourhood of Baba Amr.
0:24 It is unacceptable that the people of Baba Amr have not received any assistance or humanitarian aid or help in weeks now. The situation was difficult, it was every serious and it's even worse now. The ICRC reiterates its appeal for a daily cessation of hostilities, for a humanitarian pause of two hours, so it can access all the different affected areas and deliver urgently needed humanitarian aid.
0:53 We are staying in Homs tonight in the hope that we will be able to access Baba Amr as soon as possible. People are in urgent need of medical supplies. They are in urgent need and we hope to enter.
