29th International Conference of the Red Cross & Red Crescent: resolution and results of the vote

Information on continued steps by the Conference to find agreement in the night of 21-22 June on draft Resolution 1, and the vote taken to adopt it.
Following the break in deliberations called by the chairman (see Conference Bulletin 3) , efforts continued to find agreement on amending the draft resolution. However, by mid-evening Ambassador Strommen announced to the conference that no consensus had been found.
The chairman, Dr Mohammed Al-Hadid, therefore put the proposed amendments tabled by the Pakistani and Tunisian delegations to the vote. They were rejected and the conference then moved to the substantive draft resolution, which required a two-thirds majority. A roll-call vote was held and the resolution was adopted by 237 votes to 54 with 18 abstentions.
