King of Lesotho visits ICRC

Geneva (ICRC) – King Letsie III of Lesotho made an official visit to the headquarters in Geneva of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on 11 December.

Accompanied by several of his ministers, the monarch was welcomed by ICRC President Jakob Kellenberger.

After signing the guest book, King Letsie had talks with Mr Kellenberger, who had received Lesotho’s prime minister in June 2000.

ICRC delegates based at the organization’s regional delegation in Pretoria, South Africa, visit persons detained in Lesotho in connection with the events of 1998. It also works together with the Lesotho Red Cross Society and promotes knowledge of international humanitarian law in the country.
