It is often women who bear the brunt of the suffering conflict brings. 28-year-old Farzana Sadat has lived with violence most of her life. At the age of 14 she lost a leg in a landmine accident near her home in Kabul. Four months later she was fitted with an artificial limb at the ICRC physical rehabilitation centre in Kabul. She found work in the centre's laundry and today she is the head of the prosthetics department.
