ICRC and World Bank partner to support violence-affected communities in Myanmar

Under the Myanmar Community Support Project (MCSP), the World Bank will continue to fund ICRC’s interventions to help vulnerable, violence-affected communities in Myanmar. Latest update September 2023.

The objective of the MCSP is to support vulnerable, conflict affected communities with multisectoral assistance including livelihood support and small-scale infrastructure projects. While the objectives and activities associated with the additional financing remain the same, rehabilitation of community health structures will also be included.

Therefore, safeguards for healthcare waste management have been included in the updated:

to ensure that the potential environmental and social risks linked to the project and appropriate mitigation measures, incorporate the addition of health facilities as part of infrastructure renovations.

The documents posted here were first published in October 2022 and are redisclosed in September 2023. The Myanmar Community Support Project (MCSP), originally a one year program from January to December 2023, is extended for 9 months (until September 2024), through additional financing from the World Bank.
