Mali: Three staff members unaccounted for in the north

18 April 2016

Geneva/Bamako (ICRC) – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) confirms that it has had no contact since Saturday with three of its staff members who were on assignment in Abeibara, which is about 140 kilometres north of Kidal.

"We are worried about our colleagues and we're doing everything we can to bring them back as quickly as possible," said Christoph Luedi, head of the ICRC's delegation in Mali. "At this time we don't know why this incident took place and we aren't speculating. It's too soon to say what impact it will have on our humanitarian work."

The ICRC is in contact with all the parties in northern Mali to get its staff members back as soon as possible.
