This leaflet provides a brief overview of the ICRC’s Physical Rehabilitation Programme, which celebrated 40 years of existence in 2019.
The Physical Rehabilitation Programme was created in 1979, with the task of supporting the physical rehabilitation of victims of armed conflict and other violence. Today our work on behalf of disabled people goes well beyond physical rehabilitation; we also help them become socially and economically active in their communities, for example through sport and microeconomic initiatives.
