Multiple layers of armed conflict and entrenched socio-cultural dynamics have left Afghanistan with one of the highest disability rates in the world. We have been supporting the Afghan people since 1979 and running our physical rehabilitation programme in the country since 1988. The facilities we support receive an average of 15,000 new patients every year, which points to the gravity of the situation in the country.
Our programme combines physical rehabilitation with activities designed to promote social inclusion and participation for disabled people. We continually seek to improve the accessibility, quality and sustainability of this support.
In this document, the reader can get a cursory look in to the full spectrum of our physical rehabilitation programme in Afghanistan and some important statistical data for the year 2021.
