Mechanisms for Missing Persons: Clarifying the Fate and Supporting Families

This report lays out the extensive discussions and conclusions of a workshop co-organized in Cyprus in October 2019 by the ICRC and the Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus. It contains recommendations for key elements to consider when setting up mechanisms aimed at addressing Missing Persons situations, including elements related to political will, the policy and legal framework, the mandate, structure and composition of mechanisms, and the engagement with families and communities searching for their loved ones.
