The Pelindaba Treaty and the TPNW

The African Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone Treaty (Pelindaba Treaty) and the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) share a common objective: achieving a world free of nuclear weapons in the interests of global peace and security. This factsheet explains how the treaties work together, how the TPNW builds on and globalizes the provisions of the Pelindaba Treaty, and how states parties to the Pelindaba Treaty can support total nuclear disarmament by joining the TPNW.
