Australia: the changing face of humanitarian action
ICRC’s leadership team visited Australia in November for the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement’s biannual statutory meetings. During the visit, ICRC’s President Peter Maurer and Director-General Yves Daccord spoke with the Australia Mission about one of the key topics of the conference: the changing face of humanitarian action.
From protracted wars to changing battlefields, we hear what challenges confront neutral and independent humanitarian actors in contemporary armed conflicts, and how ICRC is responding. Finally, the interview also explains why the ICRC is present in places such as Australia, which are far from situations of conflict and violence.
