Abu Dhabi: Ninth Annual Meeting of Arab Governmental Experts on IHL
The National Committee on International Humanitarian Law in the United Arab Emirates is organizing the annual meeting of Arab governmental experts on national implementation of international humanitarian law (IHL), in cooperation with the League of Arab States and the ICRC.

The meeting, which is being held for the ninth consecutive year, aims to develop a regional annual plan of action to help Arab countries take practical steps towards strengthening the implementation and dissemination of IHL rules in armed conflicts.
The meeting will be opened by Ambassador Radwan Ben Khadra, the Legal Adviser to the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Mr Ahmed Al-Mazrouei, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Red Crescent Society in the United Arab Emirates, Mr Gérard Peytrignet, head of the ICRC regional delegation in Kuwait, and Ambassador Abdul Rahim Al-Awadi, Chairman of the National Committee on International Humanitarian Law in the United Arab Emirates.
The participants will discuss the latest developments in IHL and review each country's achievements in its application. They will address priorities for common Arab action in terms of adapting national legislation to IHL, ratification of treaties, dissemination of IHL and relations with members of parliament. The meeting will conclude with the adoption of the regional plan of action, which includes priorities for IHL implementation in the Arab world.
