Humanitarian principles revisited? Current and future challenges
Panel discussion on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the ICRC.
Where: Geneva, Switerland
On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the ICRC, the International Review of the Red Cross and the Centre for Education and Research in Humanitarian Action (CERAH) convene a debate on current dilemmas in operationalising the principles of neutrality, impartiality, independence and humanity. What are the tensions within and between the principles? How do organisations apply the principles in practice? What are the challenges to the principles? Do “new” humanitarian actors interpret and apply the principles differently?
