War surgery and the management of war wounded
06-03-2008 Film Ref. V-F-CR-F-00271
The surgical management of war victims is different from that practised in peacetime – the security constraints affect the entire health system, hospitals are attacked, staff flee for safety, supplies are interrupted and patients arrive at the hospitals with complicated wounds.
Starting from initial first aid and continuing right through to physical rehabilitation, this film shows how to give casualties of war the best chance of survival and recovery in such precarious circumstances. It is intended primarily for war surgeons and hospital administrators for training purposes.
