LA Times article on Camp Honor, ICRC statement

Geneva/Baghdad - The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has taken note of the article entitled "Elite units under an office of Maliki's linked to jail where detainees are tortured, Iraq officials say", published by the Los Angeles Times on 14 July regarding Camp Honor.
The ICRC has a confidential dialogue with the Iraqi authorities and will not comment publicly on the article.
The organisation is visiting places of detention in Iraq with the aim of ensuring that people deprived of freedom are treated humanely and are given appropriate conditions of detention.
The ICRC takes very seriously all relevant information related to the conditions of detention and treatment of detainees.
The ICRC will continue to enhance its dialogue and cooperation with the Iraqi authorities to meet the humanitarian needs of victims of conflict and violence.
