Over two decades have passed since the Bougainville Conflict broke out and an unknown number of the estimated 20,000 victims of the violence remain missing and unaccounted for.
This brief glimpse into the lives of a few people who have lost loved ones captures some of the uniquely Bougainvillean characteristics of what is an all too common human tragedy in areas of conflict.
Originally shot as a tool to raise visibility on the issue of missing persons inside Bougainville as part of New Dawn FM's "Wokabaut Piksa" mobile cinema, this cut has been re-edited for a wider audience.
"Wokabaut Piksa" was a collaboration between British/Irish and British/French film makers Tom Besley and Leonore Schick and Bougainvillean Manager of New Dawn FM Aloysius Laukai.
