Have you lost contact with members of your family? Are you looking for information about your loved ones? Since the escalation of the armed conflict between the Russian Federation and Ukraine in February 2022, thousands of families have been torn apart and are anxiously awaiting news of relatives they have lost touch with.
The Central Tracing Agency (CTA) Bureau for the international armed conflict between the Russian Federation and Ukraine aims at preventing disappearances and alleviating the suffering of families who remain without news of their loved ones, either because they have been captured or arrested, they have gone missing or because they fled their homes and have lost contact.
Searching for missing and separated family members is an obligation for all parties to an armed conflict. The CTA Bureau supports families wherever they are to get answers about the fate and whereabout of their loved ones. It also works with the states concerned toward these goals: in particular, acting as a neutral intermediary, the bureau collects, centralizes and transmits information, from one side to the other, on military personnel and civilians who have fallen in the hands of the enemy. It strives to ensure they are accounted for and retain family links.
Based in Geneva, the CTA Bureau works closely with Red Cross and Red Crescent partners around the world to ensure proximity with families and enhance efficiency. It will remain active for as long as needed to provide them with information about their loved ones.
