Since 2010, the ICRC has been conducting humanitarian work regarding missing people and their family members in Georgia. Up to 2,500 people are still unaccounted for due to the armed conflicts in the region from the 1990s to 2008.
Reliable information about missing people and potential burial sites is necessary for achieving success in clarifying their fate. Any information received by the ICRC, including personal information of the sources, is treated confidentially and used for humanitarian purposes only.
The ICRC does not disclose information - including the identity of the sources - in judicial proceedings.
